As more marriages succumb to the strain of the pandemic, chances are that a greater share of your clients will be navigating a divorce. Their income and business affairs may be scrutinized. They may have questions about the documents they are obligated to produce, like tax returns and financial statements. They may need to finance a large capital payment to their spouse. Their tax considerations may change and financial planning may be required.

This course is designed to educate you on three primary areas in family law:

  1. Income determination for support purposes;
  2. Child and spousal support (colloquially referred to sometimes as “alimony”); and
  3. Equalization (the division of property regime for married spouses in Ontario).

Having a fundamental understanding of these family law issues can help you serve your clients in a proactive, informative, cost-efficient and forward-thinking way!
